Abbreviated Information:

The Proception Fertility Cannula with Vacu-Lok Control Syringe is designed to be used in doing Post Coital Test. It can also be used to remove mucus plug from the cervix, test cervical mucus viscosity, interaction of sperm and cervical mucus, determine ovulation and identify antispermal antibodies.

Purpose

• Determine if hostile or poor-quality cervical mucus is a factor in patient’s infertility problem.
• Remove cervical mucus plug which may be preventing or hindering migration of sperm.

Advantages:

• Only in-vivo test that brings together both partners in one testing system.
• More accurate than in-vitro testing to evaluate what happens following normal intercourse.
• Cannula can be hand formed to the appropriate curvature of the cervical canal prior to removing cannula from packet.
• Stylet allows post-coital endocervical sampling technique preferred by many specialists.

Limitations:

When doing a Post Coital Test (PCT):

• Should be performed within 2 to 21/2 hours following coitus.
• Test must be scheduled 1 to 3 days before the expected rise in basal body temperature.
