Pessary Reimbursement Jumps

The new 2001 CPT codes have eliminated A4560 and replaced it with two new codes. - A4561 and A4562. The new codes finally recognize that pessaries are made in materials other than rubber.

A4561 designated for all rubber pessaries - including Milex's Inflatoball

A4562 designated for all NON-rubber pessaries - all other Milex pessaries

Amino-Cerv Promotes Healing of Cervix after LEEP

Using Amino-Cerv After Cervical LEEP

Objective: To evaluate the ability of Amino-Cerv to promote healing of the cervix following loop electrical excision procedure (LEEP) of the cervix for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.

Study design: A randomized study was conducted on 48 women in a private office setting. Patients were divided into two groups, to use or not use Amino-Cerv intravaginally for two weeks after the procedure. Statistical analysis of the findings were performed using the X2 test.

Discussion: The use of Amino-Cerv after LEEP of the cervix promoted more rapid healing and less malodor and discharge than untreated patients experienced. Patients treated with Amino Cerv were able to resume sexual activity sooner and had less of a need to return for examinations than those not treated.

Conclusion: Amino Cerv after LEEP of the cervix promotes healing.
